Welcome to my Manila site!

Hello! Welcome to the third Grade

Welcome to Mrs.Reese's Website.

We are very hard at work each day. We live to learn!

Mrs. Reese≠s Third Quarter Update
                      January 16, 2007

Well we are off to a speedy start with a tight schedule.  There is a lot to cover and I want the class to be totally prepared for fourth grade next year.  Did I just say 4th grade?  Where does the time go?  The truth is that it is just around the corner.  My immediate goal is to have the entire class turning in their homework on time.  Third quarter has started off a little shaky on the homework front.

There have been a few changes in the weekly routine that I want to share.

1. Each Monday (Tuesday if there is a holiday) your child will receive a fluency builder reading exercise.  They are supposed to read it out load to AN ADULT for one minute.  The goal is to improve fluency each time it is read.  Please sign the paper and return it on FRIDAY.

2. I am passing out a READING LOG.  Students are required to read 500 minutes this month. (20 minutes per night).  Please make sure that your child is reading regularly, sign form, and check to see that they filled it out.  Reading logs should be returned at the end of the month.

3. Finally students are responsible to practice their multiplication tables each night as part of their math homework.  We cover these in class in a variety of ways, but additional practice is needed.  I don≠t believe that all students are putting this in their agenda so I thought that I≠d bring it to your attention.  We are currently mastering the 7 tables.  Next are the 3 tables.

Academic Update:

Science:  This quarter we will cover the topic of SOUND.
Social Studies:  We will be spending time covering Communities (past and present) and all concepts related to them.  (Urban, Suburban, Rural).   The third grade team is planning a project about communities that we hope to display in the library.  More information will follow.
